Interventions Unlimited, Inc. is proud to offer two intensive ABA Social Skills Summer Programs for children with language, behavioral and social difficulties. Our camp is also open to siblings or children without special needs. Using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), our dedicated and trained staff will teach communication, classroom readiness, and social interaction skills. Children are frequently reinforced for engaging in positive social behaviors. We offer:
PROGRAM ONE: ages 3 - 6 This program will focus on increasing your child’s classroom readiness skills, language communication, and social skills. Children will work in small groups based on their age, language and behavioral levels. Beginning level skills focus on teaching basic readiness and listening skills in a group setting, participating in short circle time activities, awareness training (getting to know their peers), communication, and parallel play. Intermediate level skills focus on social communication and play related skills. Children are taught to ask to play, join in play, share, take turns, and play games with peers. Advanced level skills focus on communication, play and emotional related skills. Children are taught to respect boundaries, initiate conversations with peers, learn to take directions and listen to their peers, show understanding of others feelings, compromise to get along, good sportsmanship, accept “No” for an answer, try something new (fear of a new situation), and to keep calm. Daily schedules include social time, small group activities, music and movement, story time, crafts and outside play. PROGRAM TWO: ages 7- 13 This program is geared to provide a fun, structured social environment to improve your child’s social awareness and his or her interaction with peers. Children work in small groups based on their age and skill levels. We use Teach Me Language exercises to help increase language skills, and we combine this curriculum with cooperative play strategies that assist and promote social interaction among the children. Our activities are fun, creative, and designed specifically to target areas of deficits. Each day the children are presented with a new skill that will be learned and practiced throughout the camp day. The children practice perspective-taking, mind reading, emotional-self control, learn to recognize verbal and non-verbal social cues, good sportsmanship, practice conversational skills, and most importantly learn to make friends and have FUN! All the activities are designed to promote making friends, developing self-esteem, and having fun! Half-day programs: Application fee: $50.00 before April 15, 2012. $65.00 after April 15, 2012 To register your child, please complete the application forms and submit them to the Interventions Unlimited, Inc. office.
